Boy, it's been a while since the last one! Somewhat busy of late with NHibernate (more on that in a day or two), so it's time for the periodic dump of some of the stuff that I've seen lately:
- CouchDB - I'm sure I've blogged about this in a previous digest, but schema-free (or document) databases have been getting a lot of press lately, and CouchDB is one of the main ones.
- Whilst talking about document databases, here are another couple of useful links. The first is from Ayende on the design of a document database. The second is from FriendFeed discussing how they moved from a schema-based design to a schema-less model.
- A nice little discussion on locks & exceptions. You'll never feel save with the lock() keyword again! (and rightly so!)
- And on a very related topic, some stuff on async exception handling
- Implementing the specification pattern using LINQ expressions. Particularly interesting to me with my current work on LINQ to NHibernate
- The first podcast from Sod This, featuring someone that some of you may know :)
- And now we'll focus on WPF. See what I did there? Good, huh?
- .NET RIA services. Some stuff that got released at MIX, but that I've not looked at yet. There were some reports for some fairly reputable folk that it was great demoware, but a bad way to architect an application. As I said, I've not looked at it yet, so don't have an opinion.
- Do you have meetings with no issues? Are you sure?
- Here's Hansleman's list of stuff that he installs on new machines. If nothing else, it contains useful links to useful stuff. A bit like this post. Except his probably gets a tad more traffic.
- New CTP of the .Net Services. This stuff is pretty cool, but I wish they'd hurry up with the Silverlight bindings...
- Agile Estimating. Nothing really new here, but in case you've been living in a cave for the last few years...
- A great post on Geneva (the thing that InfoCard grew up into).
I think that'll do for now...
