The Visual Studio 2003 help index can often become quite slow and unusable. This may be caused by merged 3rd party help content. To mechanism by which unwanted help content can be removed from visual studio is not obvious.
1. Open the help search window and paste in the following (without the quotes): “Visual stutio .NET combined Help Collection Manager”
2. Select the search result matching the above (should be the first one), this will open the extremely easy to find help collection manager!!
3. Uncheck any 3rd party heelp collection you do not need.
4. Restart visual studio.
The help index will rebuild when you restart; this takes a couple of minutes.
